But will Andrew understand what she's going through?
FOR WEEK COMMENCING 29 JULY
Even though Andrew and Sadie have moved on, Wendy is full of guilt about lying about her age and family.
When Wendy’s Uni mates want to hang out with her again, but as her real self: no façades. Andrew tries to convince his wife that she did miss out on getting the full Uni experience when she was younger and should let the guilt go and be allowed to have some fun now.
But when an over-enthusiastic Andrews joins Wendy and her new friends for a drink, she realises that this is something she needs to experience by herself.
Having been accepted by her Uni friends for who she is, a more confident Wendy is pleased that Andrew has also embraced her world.
After receiving a notification that the announcement of the Gatsford Mentorship recipient is imminent, Wendy admits to both Cara and Andrew how much she wants it. Having given
her all to the application, to win would be validation of all her hard work.
When the winner is announced, Wendy is thrilled it's her as are her family and Cara. But when a student, Heidi, points out the mentorship was a diversity PR stunt to make the University look good, Wendy is left deeply shaken.
Shell-shocked by the accusation that her mentorship win wasn't based on merit, Wendy is keen to shut down Andrew's big celebration.
Noticing her low mood, Andrew pushes for the truth and Wendy reveals the theory that she’s simply a PR exercise to make the uni look good. But Andrew doesn’t believe it and Wendy isn’t pleased.
Later, Cara encourages Wendy to put in a complaint, highlighting her own experience with bigotry as opposed to really understanding her inner turmoil.
Wendy finally finds solace in confiding in Quinn, who as a minority himself, understands what she’s up against on a day-to-day basis.
