Who will win big at this year's BAFTAs?


This week's best telly includes the biggest night in telly, as Alan Cumming hosts this year's BAFTA Television Awards on BBC One, Jason Watkins, Robson Green and Sunetra Sarker star in 5's new drama The Game, plus Alison Hammond is seeing in the weekend with a brand new Friday night show on BBC One.


Elsewhere, Abbott Elementary returns to Disney+ with seven new episodes and Dannii Minogue is back with a brand new series of I Kissed A Boy on BBC Three.

This weekend, the BAFTA Television Awards are back to celebrate the very best of television broadcast in 2024 and this year's ceremony will be hosted for the first time, by Scottish actor, writer, producer and presenter Alan Cumming.


The small screen’s biggest annual event will see famous faces from series such as Rivals, Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light and Mr Bates vs The Post Office, all hoping to win a coveted BAFTA mask.

Dannii Minogue is back playing cupid as I Kissed a Boy, the dating show, where the path to love is never straight, I Kissed A Boy is back. It’s loud. It’s proud. And it all starts with a kiss.


Ten single boys have been matched up to meet for the first time, with a kiss. No small talk, no swiping, just a kiss. A kiss that could be the start of something incredible! But the path to love is never straight, and in the swanky new masseria, everyone’s a possibility.


As the boys get to know each other at their Big Gay Gala, one boy has the opportunity to unlock the gate to the Secret Garden and explore a connection outside of their match. Waiting in the wings is one more gorgeous boy hoping to find love, but who will be bold enough to grab the key?

5's new four-part thriller The Game, stars Jason Watkins as former detective Huw who's settling into retirement alongside his wife Alice, played by Sunetra Sarker. But never far from his mind, is the case he failed to solve. The Ripton Stalker.


When new neighbour, Patrick, played by Robson Green, moves in and utters the chilling phrase ‘catch you later’, the sign off the stalker used to taunt Huw, he’s determined he’s finally got his man.


What follows is a high-stakes game of psychological chess between the neighbours as Huw risks everything to unearth the truth. But has he got the right man, or has his obsession pushed him to the brink?

This week sees Abbott Elementary return to Disney+ with 7 brand new episodes as season four continues.


In these new episodes, Ava announces the school district is sending a group of volunteers to help out at Abbott, the district sends a new custodian to train under Mr. Johnson, a bus strike causes many students to be absent from school and The Abbott Elementary students and staff are invited to a special grand opening preview of the Girard Creek Golf Club.


In the later episodes, the teachers get competitive whilst supervising the kids making their science fair projects, Janine and Gregory prepare for Valentine’s Day as a couple and during Abbott's 100th Day of School celebrations, Barbara receives a surprise from her daughter.

ALISON HAMMOND'S
BIG WEEKEND

Friday 16th May at 8.30pm on BBC One


Alison Hammond's Big Weekend sees the much-loved TV personality spend quality time with some of the biggest star names, giving viewers an exclusive glimpse into their homes, histories and personal lives.


In the opening episode, Alison interviews former Little Mix star Perrrie Edwards. Taking a snoop around as well as visiting her home town of South Shields, Perrie opens up about her childhood, becoming a mother, and her time in one of the most successful girl-bands in British history.


Further episodes see Alison taking a boat trip on Lake Windermere with Jimmy Carr, a visit with Sir Lenny Henry to their beloved Midlands, a roller coaster ride with Spice Girl Mel B, horse riding with Luke Evans and getting put through her paces in the boxing ring by Tony Bellew.


All six celebrities open themselves up to Alison, sharing personal revelations, fun times and the occasional tear as they show Alison the people and places that have shaped them into the stars they are today.
