Time for more Sugar!



This week's best telly includes the return of Colin Farrell's Apple TV drama Sugar, a new series of The Light in the Hall and a new Harlan Coben adaptation, I Will Find You.


Elsewhere, The Traitors US returns for a fourth outing, and BBC Three comedy Funboys returns for a second series.

This week Channel 4 returns to the fictional town of Llanemlyn for the second series of The Light in the Hall, which is the English-language version of Y Golau: Dŵr, which previously aired in Welsh on S4C.


This series, a controversial plan to expand the reservoir, reignites long-buried tensions. Told across two timelines, the story begins in 1995, when activist Llyr Owen dies in a bombing, and his cousin Rhys, played by Mark Lewis Jones, is jailed for the crime.


Thirty years later, Rhys returns home to a community once again divided by protest. As trainee journalist Caryl, played by Siân Reese-Williams, becomes drawn into the story, her investigation begins to unravel hidden truths, exposing secrets that have shaped the town for decades, in a gripping drama of protest, guilt and generational reckoning.

Alan Cumming returns to host the US version of the ultimate reality game of trust and treachery, The Traitors.


An all-star cast arrives in Scotland under the cover of darkness for the ultimate game of deception and the chance to win up to $250,000. The cards of fate are dealt, secrets lurk in the shadows, and the game starts faster than ever before.


Players include Love Island favourite Maura Higgins, Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir and Dancing with the Stars favourite, and son of Strictly judge Shirley, Mark Ballas.

Colin Farrell returns as John Sugar in the second series of Apple TV's contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture and television history: the private detective story.


In season two, Los Angeles’ iconic private detective and film connoisseur, John Sugar, returns for a new case, tracking the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer as his search for his beloved missing sister continues.


As the investigation expands into a citywide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question: how far will he go to do what’s right?

The soft-bellied boys of Ballymacnoose are back as Funboys returns to BBC Three this week for its second series with guest star Steve Coogan!


After last year, tackling the weight of grief and suppository drugs, the gang have come out the other side all grown up. Callum’s trying out a lovely perm, Gemma and Lorcan are smooching seven times a day, and it's been four months since Jordan’s last full-throated screaming strop with his Daddies. Things are bright in Ballymacnoose.


But dark clouds loom! The gang belatedly get involved in The Great Irish Potato Famine and it's all downhill from there. Bigotry, balding and competitive robot combat, if they aren’t careful, the funboys are about to become the doneboys. Aghh!


Will the soft kindness of their Teletubby hearts overcome the colonial scars of the past? Is Jordan losing his hair, or is it, as he insists, just a double crown? Are the close-minded people of Ballymacnoose ready for Lorcan to explore previously uncharted territory in the love department? Is Lorcan even ready? Who’s exploring Lorcan’s departments?
