WHAT TO WATCH 4-10 December

This week’s best telly includes a head-to-head between Netflix and Amazon as bring back two of their biggest shows, Strictly reaches its semi-final and I’m A Celeb reaches its final.


Here are the 7 shows you have to watch this week...


1.  Hailmakers

Monday 4th December from 10am on BBC Three

Another week, another BBC Three comedy pilot and this week it’s the turn of Hailmakers. The pilot follows Saz and Sol, the country’s lowest-rent entrepreneurs, as they find out that there’s nothing harder than easy money.


Saz and Sol, played by Akemnji Ndifornyen and Samson Kayo are eager for success. If there’s money in it, they’ll do it. But on one condition: they will only work for themselves. No jobs. No bosses. No problems. Except Saz and Sol have lost their only office cleaning contract, and with just £40 left in the coffers they need to gamble big in order to keep a roof above their heads.

2. The A Word

Wednesday 6th December at 9pm on BBC One

This week, Ralf Little stars in the penultimate episode of what has been a superb second series of The A Word.


Paul's deepest feelings about his son's autism emerge when Nicola makes a film of Joe's behaviours. Eddie reaches D-Day with Holly. Meanwhile, Maurice makes a shocking proposal.

3. The Crown

Friday 8th December on Netflix

The Crown which tells the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world; Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street, returns this week for second series with Claire Foy and Matt Smith both returning as Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.


Ten years into her reign, Queen Elizabeth feels the pressure as a rift between herself and her husband emerges.

4. The Grand Tour

Friday 8th December on Amazon

This week, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May return to Amazon for a new season of the show that sees three middle-aged men rampaging around the world having unusual adventures, driving amazing cars, and engaging in a constant argument about which of them is the biggest idiot.


Throughout the series Clarkson, Hammond and May will visit the likes of Croatia, Mozambique, Dubai, Spain, Switzerland, Colorado and New York.


5. Strictly Come Dancing: Semi-Final

Saturday 9th December on BBC One

With just a week to go until the Grand Final, the Glitter Ball trophy is in sight and the pressure is really on for the remaining couples this week as they each perform two routines (Latin and Ballroom) in a bid to impress the judges and the audience at home.


After 12 weeks of spectacular Latin and Ballroom dances, it will all come down to the scores of Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood, combined with the public votes, to decide who out of Alexandra Burke, Debbie McGee, Gemma Atkinson, Joe McFadden and Mollie King will make it through to the live final next weekend.


The voting lines open after all the couples have danced twice and on Sunday night, Tess and Claudia will reveal which couples will be dancing in the Grand Final and which couple will perform their last dance as they are eliminated from the competition. Also on Sunday night, Craig David and Bastille will be performing their latest single I Know You.


6. Through The Keyhole

Saturday 9th December at 9.50pm on ITV

Through the Keyhole returns for a brand new series and Keith Lemon kicks things off with an I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! special where Keith will be rummaging the houses of three former jungle campmates.


On this week’s star-studded panel are comedian Jimmy Carr, former Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon, TV Presenter Myleene Klass and legendary DJ Tony Blackburn.


7. I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! Final

Sunday 10th December on ITV

In many ways it feels like this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity has only just begun yet on Sunday night we'll find out who will follow in Scarlett Moffatt's footsteps and be crowned King or Queen of the jungle.


And having only said goodbye to Shappi Khorsandi and Kezia Dugdale so far, it really is anyones for the taking!
