Who will win BIG at this year's NTAs?



This week's best telly includes one of the biggest nights in television: this year's National Television Awards, with Joel Dommett returning as host!


Elsewhere, Gary Lineker makes his big primetime return hosting ITV1's new game show The Box, Paul C. Brunson joins the second series of U&W's Red Flag, The Paper returns for its second season and Call My Agent! returns to Netflix with a feature-length movie return!


And if you're a fan of Patrick Brammall, then you're in for a treat, because whilst he's saying goodbye to Colin from Accounts this week, he's also adding a new role to his CV, playing the lead in Apple TV's new Australian thriller Last Seen.

 BRAND NEW GAME SHOW

THE BOX


Saturday 5th at 8.15pm and Sunday 6th September at 8pm on ITV1

Launching this week on ITV1 is The Box, a brand new game show hosted by Gary Lineker in which ten celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, music, sport, and politics are plunged into the unknown.


Taking part are Danny Aarons, Ellie Taylor, Graeme Souness, JB Gill, Jenny Ryan, Joey Essex, John Bercow, Ranvir Singh, Sara Davies and Shakira Khan.


Each celebrity finds themselves enclosed in a yellow box, travelling to mystery locations across the country. They will never know where they are, or what challenge is facing them on the other side. The challenges could be physical, mental, logical, funny, a bit daunting, or all of those at once.


With minimal or no instruction, they must decipher and work out what to do. At the end of each episode, two players will battle it out in The Duel, a high-stakes head-to-head game to avoid elimination.

COLIN FROM ACCOUNTS

Colin From Accounts returns this week to BBC Two for its third and final series, as Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer return to play the mismatched couple who were brought together by fate, a car accident... and an injured dog.


In this series, Gordon and Ashley are determined to move on from Gordon’s ill-fated proposal at Megan and Rumi’s pop-up wedding. But when a chance encounter at a suburban GP clinic throws their plans for forward momentum off course, the pair are forced to confront their lingering baggage.


And even as life moves relentlessly on, with challenges at work, ongoing family battles and new friendship dramas, something keeps pulling this flawed, funny pair back into each other’s orbits.


Do Gordon and Ashley belong together? Or is their beloved dog Colin the only thing keeping their futures intertwined?

The National Television Awards return this week to ITV1 as Joel Dommett hosts one of the biggest nights in telly as the great and good wait to find out if they'd won the much-coveted NTA trophy.


Hoping to win big on the night will be Stacey Solomon, who's shortlisted for three awards, and after losing out to Gary Lineker last year, will Ant & Dec reclaim their Best Presenter award?


And for the first time, the Best Drama Performance category features an all-female line-up with Ella Bruccoleri, Judy Parfitt, Vicky McClure, Sheridan Smith and Ruth Jones all up for the same award.

PAUL C. BRUNSON: RED FLAG

Red Flag returns this week to U&W for its second series, with a tweaked format and new title as relationship expert Paul C. Brunson helps survivors of abusive relationships uncover the hidden warning signs that led to coercion, control and violence.


Each episode will see the brave survivor of a toxic relationship share their powerful story with Paul, who unravels the subtle red flags, patterns of behaviour and moments that reveal an abusive partner's true nature.


The survivor retraces their relationship with Paul, returning to the places where everything changed, from first dates and favourite restaurants to romantic hotels and family homes. Revisiting these locations is a stark reminder of how abuse can develop gradually in plain sight.


Friends, relatives and those closest to the survivor provide their own perspectives, revealing what they saw, what they missed and how abuse affects not only the survivor, but everyone around them.


By combining deeply personal testimony with Paul's relationship expertise, each episode provides both an emotional survivor story and a practical guide to recognising potentially abusive behaviour as it develops.


In the opening episode, Paul meets Charlotte, who was left reeling when her partner's early devotion turned to escalating control and violence, culminating in a devastating graveside attack.

Launching this week on Apple TV is Last Seen, a new Australian thriller starring Patrick Brammall as police detective Ian Ridley, whose life fell apart 11 years ago when his young daughter, Maggie, disappeared without a trace.


Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever.


When he receives a distress call from a teenage girl he is certain is Maggie, he will stop at nothing to find her and reunite his broken family, whatever the cost.

CALL MY AGENT! THE MOVIE


Thursday 10th September on Netflix



Call My Agent! returns this week to Netflix after five years away as the original cast reunite for a feature-length movie!


Five years after the agency closed its doors, Andréa is finally ready to direct her first feature film. When her lead actor quits and she falls out with her producer, she joins forces with Noémie, now a successful reality TV producer, believing she can easily manipulate her.


But as she faces a complete recasting, on-set disasters, and a legal battle threatening the custody of her daughter, everything begins to unravel. One by one, the former ASK colleagues converge on this high-tension film set.


Each arrives with their own role, their ego, and a fair share of old grudges - little do they know what this reunion truly has in store for them.

The Paper returns this week to Sky One for its second season, as the mockumentary sitcom based in the same world as the US adaptation of The Office is back!


In season two, after sweeping the Ohio Journalism Awards, Ned searches for a journalistic crusade, coming for a local private club and jeopardising the paper, while he and Mare try to figure out their attraction, Esmeralda struggles to find her place, and the staff gradually mature as reporters.
