Channel 4 has today announced a new series hosted by Alison Hammond, with the working title, Your Song which is about everyday people, who, driven by their love and connection to a particular song, will step up to the stage and share their story with the world.

Whether their track helped them through heartbreak, became their anthem of triumph, or reminds them who they are, Your Song is exactly that…. Yours.

Alison Hammond is expected to bring her trademark compassion, humour, and unique ability to connect with our singers, by encouraging them to open up and tell their story.

With its signature pop-up stage, Your Song will travel into the bustling heart of some of the UK's most vibrant towns and cities, offering amateur singers the chance to perform in front of a packed crowd, often for the very first time.

On hosting Your Song, Alison Hammond said “I love the power that music and singing your heart out has, it can literally change your mood – put a smile on your face, make you sad, make you reminisce, so I’m really excited about this new show which is about real people telling us their stories, through song….let’s hit the road!”

To which commissioning editors for Channel 4, Cimran Shah and Tim Hancock added “This show is going to be warm, joyful and feature some absolutely knock-out singers. Whether they're 7 or 70 years old, Your Song is all about celebrating the best unknown singing talent in Britain, we can't wait to see who steps onto stage.”

Your Song is produced by Love Productions, the makers of The Great British Bake Off and The Piano and will be co-executive produced by Martha Delap and Kieran Smith.

Speaking about Your Song, Creative Director for Love Productions,Kieran Smith said “Every song has a story and Your Song celebrates every note that is personal. This show isn’t about flashy performances or chasing fame it’s about authenticity and about songs that have real meaning to the singers. We all have that one song that has marked our memories,  and these performances will be giving us a glimpse into someone’s life told through the song that shaped it."

Your Song will air on Channel 4
