How will the university react when she's honest with them?
FOR WEEK COMMENCING 5 AUGUST
As Cara works on her latest uni assignment, coding proves to be tougher than anticipated and Remi and Dex pick up on her anxiety as Remi encourages her to have faith in herself.
As he can’t help but feel concern for his mum, Dex, wanting to help, decides to secretly work on her assignment. When Haz drops by, Dex asks him a tech question to ensure success. Helping him out, Haz can't help but feel suspicious as to what Dex is up to.
When Cara returns home, wanting to re-proof her work, an anxious Dex enlists Remi to help him convince Cara to just send it off. And she does so, none-the-wiser that her son has redone her work.
With Cara gobsmacked to receive her first High Distinction, Dex is initially privately thrilled with his secret efforts to help her. But when the Varga-Murphys celebrate at Harold’s, Haz’s suspicion twigs when he discovers the high grade was a programming assignment.
Knowing he’s been busted, Dex pleads his case and begs Haz not to say anything. But Haz’s conscience wins out and he confides in Remi about what Dex has done. When Cara bounces in on a high after signing up for an advanced coding module, Remi decides to keep the truth a secret, for now.
When Cara receives word that the university is investigating her for academic misconduct over her most recent assignment, she's shocked and Dex is forced to come clean over his involvement.
As Cara lets loose at her son for his interference, Remi suggests her anger really stems from embarrassment that she needed help in the first place.
Remorseful, Cara makes peace with her son, who's also consoled by Haz and resolves herself to the impending fallout. She’ll have to be honest with the university and await the consequences.
