 13-19 SEPTEMBER

With Paul suddenly gone to America, Elle and Terese find themselves in a polite but painful truce. But when Elle has a disastrous meeting with Wesley, editor of the Daily Monster, Terese steps up as a supportive shoulder.

As the two begin to bond, Terese forms a plan to make Elle feel more at home on Ramsay Street. But during their tour, Elle spies a juicy scoop in Cara’s house, one that will help her meet the challenge Wesley has set her, to find a big, noisy story.

Desperate to prove that she is still a worthy journalist, Elle steals classified info from Cara’s documents on the Linwell brothers and uses it to write a juicy story for the Daily Monster. But without the full story, her actions mean she unwittingly puts the Linwells’ attention back on Cara and her family.

Elle’s win quickly sours as Terese, Susan and Leo turn their backs on her and Cara is especially furious at her.

With Elle’s article being shared fast and wide, Cara receives a threatening, anonymous text and the police leap into action, determined to get Cara and her family into a safe house far from the Linwells’ area of influence.

It is decided that the family will go to Apollo Bay to stay with Remi’s dad for the time being. But, knowing that her presence will only endanger Remi and the boys, Cara urges them to go without her, leaving her heartbroken at having her family split apart, especially when it felt like she was making headway with Remi.

Reeling from Remi and the boys’ exodus to Apollo Bay, Cara is relieved to have Nicolette's support. After making it clear to Elle how deplorable her actions have been, Cara soon becomes worried for her father’s safety when neither her nor Chelsea can get a hold of him on the phone.

Cara decides to check up on him by heading to the fishing spot he was driving to, with Andrew in tow. Upon their arrival, they’re horrified to discover that Greg’s been roughed up, a clear warning from the Linwells.

Feeling the heat over Remi’s departure, Elle is torn between her conscience and ambition. But after being showered with praise from Wesley over the success of her article, Elle resolutely vows to pursue the Linwell story.

Having placed Terese in an awkward position with Cara, Elle offers to move out of Number Twenty-Two, but a gracious Terese agrees to let her stay on, admitting to Leo that she’s merely keeping her enemy close.

Barely coherent, Greg reveals that his attackers mentioned Cara, leading her to insist on bringing Greg home with her. And Cara and Greg agree that while they’ve been brought together under scary circumstances it’s a chance for them to reconnect.

As Cara struggles to break through Greg’s tough shell, she becomes hopeful about repairing their relationship following Nicolette's encouragement.

Already on the outer, the hits keep coming when Nicolette confronts Elle and scolds her for blowing up Cara’s life. When the news of Greg’s attack is delivered, Elle cannot deny the damage she’s caused, before attempting to garner more information from Karl about a potential lead on council member Amelia Jones. However, Karl is tightlipped and refuses to entertain her theories.

Attempting to apologise to Cara, Elle is faced with a clear message: she cannot take back what she’s done, and Cara isn't interested in forgiveness. When Ellie ambushes him after a council meeting, Karl is quick to reprimand her.

Elle’s dogged pursuit of Amelia Jones leaves the poor woman a wreck, and she even has a prang in her car. Noticing Amelia's car at the garage, Elle manages a moment alone with the dinged vehicle and after finding a credit card statement, is determined to follow the scent.
