Get ready for another term at St Gilbert's in 2025.
Following the success of series one earlier this year, BBC Three has released a number of first look images from the upcoming second series of comedy-drama Boarders which is set to air next year.
Boarders follows five talented black inner-city teens transported to an alien world, a British boarding school after gaining scholarships to prestigious St. Gilbert’s. They set out to make the most out of the opportunity, despite their places only being offered as a poorly-disguised PR exercise to improve the reputation of the school.
Series two sees a new era for St Gilbert’s, with headmaster Bernard, who had brought the scholarship students into the school, suspended following a school rebellion.
Now acting headmistress Carol Watlington-Geese, who also happens to be the mother of Jaheim’s nemesis, Rupert, is at the helm and she wants them gone.
Series one saw these five outsiders begin to thrive whilst series two asks how much they’re willing to sacrifice just to survive.
Boarders is created and written by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, who also stars as Gus and these new images show the return of Josh Tedeku as Jaheim, Jodie Campbell as Leah, Sekou Diaby as Toby, Myles Kamwendo as Omar and Aruna Jalloh as Femi, who are all back at St Gilbert’s for series two.
They are seen alongside returning characters Rupert played by Harry Gilby, Beatrix played byTallulah Greive, Florence played by Rosie Graham, Abby played by Assa Kanouté, Mabel played by Georgina Sadler and Carol Watlington-Geese played by Niky Wardley.
Other returning cast members include Zheng Xi Yong as Xiang, Dillon Mitra as Dilton, Archie Fisher as Cheddar, Andrew Harmon-Gray as Graham, Ruxandra Porojnicu as Yelena, Kye Malcom as Caleb, Llewella Gideon as Sylvie, Mohammed Mansaray as Malachi, Niyi Akin as Koku, Maxim Ays as Felix, Al Foran as Stanley, William Andrews as Mackers and Yuriri Naka as Ms Kaneko.
The BBC has also announced a number of new cast members for series two, including Wunmi Mosaku as Jaheim’s mum, Grace and Cara Theobold as St Gilbert’s new writer in residence Jude. Also joining this series will be Michael Salami as Femi’s Uncle Teju and Kendra Brown who makes her on-screen debut as new American exchange student, Devon’ye.
Speaking ahead of series two, creator, writer and executive producer, Daniel Lawrence Taylor said "Bringing the new season of Boarders to life has been an incredible experience, especially with the exciting addition of new faces to the cast. Watching the actors effortlessly return to their roles, as if they had never left, has been an absolute joy. We hope you enjoy this second helping of the series as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it!"
The second series of Boarders sees lead writer Daniel Lawrence Taylor joined by Yemi Oyefuwa, Jeffrey Aidoo and Racheal Ofori, writing additional episodes and will be executive produced by Daniel Lawrence Taylor, Madeleine Sinclair and Susan Hogg for Studio Lambert alongside Nawfal Faizullah and Katherine Bond for the BBC.
