A group of friends reunite for a dream vacation that soon turns into a nightmare!

BBC One has released a first look at their new drama Two Weeks in August, which promises to be a witty and painfully relatable series, following a group of friends reuniting for a summer holiday.

Written and created by Catherine Shepherd, the eight-part drama is a story about friends who reconnect and uncover more about themselves and each other than they ever expected.

Set in Greece, Two Weeks in August tells the story of a woman who goes on holiday with her family and friends to rediscover joy in her life. But, here in paradise, what starts with an illicit kiss quickly turns the dream vacation into a nightmare. Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires, and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up.

When they discover they are trapped on the island, the group are faced with real life-or-death situations, and soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame.

Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her? Or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play? We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…

These first look images show Jessica Raine as Zoe and Damien Molony as Dan on a midday stroll, alongside one of Zoe contemplating life atop a rocky vista.

Antonia Thomas plays Jess, who we see relaxing by the pool, while Solomon, played by Nicholas Pinnock, takes a dip.

Leila Farzad and Hugh Skinner star as Nat and Jacob, who we see enjoying the villa’s view, and the group of friends are on their way to a party they’ll never forget, for better or worse.

The cast for Two Weeks in August also includes Dolly Wells, Tom Goodman-Hill, Dylan Brady, Maria Almeida, Khali Gharbia, Florence Banks, Sonny Poon Tip and Cassius Hackforth.

Made by Various Artists Limited, Two Weeks in August was shot in Malta and Gozo last year with the help of local production company Pellikola, and produced by Rhonda Smith, with Tom George as lead director, directing episodes 1-4, and Matthew Moore directing episodes 5-8.

It'll be executive produced by Catherine Shepherd and Tom George, alongside Roberto Troni and Kat Reynolds for Various Artists Limited, and Jo McClellan for the BBC. And casting was done by Julie Harkin and Nathan Toth.

Two Weeks in August will air soon on BBC One
