Hijack returning to Apple TV+ for a second season

The hit high-octane thriller will return for a new season with Idris Elba back as Sam Nelson.

The first season of Hijack became one of the top dramas on Apple TV+, receiving wide acclaim from both critics and fans.

Told in real-time, it was a tense thriller following the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight as authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

Idris Elba will return as Sam Nelson, who in the first season boarded a flight to London hoping to win back his ex-wife. But as he felt that something on board was wrong, his suspicions were confirmed. Spotting an opportunity, Sam executed a plan to get a covert message to authorities on the ground, getting involved in a risky plan to take on the hijackers.

The gripping season finale, saw a new threat emerge on board as Sam struggled to control the chaos that unfolded around him.

Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, season two will be executive produced by Idris Elba alongside Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta and Tom Nash at 60Forty Films, and George Kay and Jim Field Smith’s own production company Idiotlamp Productions

Speaking ahead of the second season, Idris Elba said "I was floored by the overwhelming audience response after season one. It’s top secret what new situation unfolds for Sam Nelson but I can assure you we will bring the high octane back!"

To which Apple TV+'s creative director, Europe, Jay Hunt added "Global audiences were on tenterhooks watching Idris’s riveting performance in ‘Hijack,’ and we’re thrilled to be working again with 60Forty and Idiotlamp on an equally compelling season two."
