Can Karl and Susan encourage her to hold her head up high?
16-22 NOVEMBER
With Cara’s life in the balance, a panicking Remi instructs her staff to get her into surgery immediately to stop her internal bleeding. Reluctantly, Remi is convinced by senior colleague Stevie not to attend surgery as it's not something she should see.
Forced to endure a long night, Remi is relieved when Stevie updates her that Cara’s stable following surgery, but is shocked to learn that Cara flatlined.
The next morning, Cara fleetingly regains consciousness and horrified by her wife’s apparently catatonic state, Remi spirals, fearing that Cara might have brain damage. However Stevie gives her some tough love, insisting Remi shouldn’t jump to conclusions.
Stevie’s advice proves sage when Cara later regains consciousness again, allaying any fears
Remi might have about her mental state by offering a classic Cara response.
Meanwhile, Holly is riddled with guilt over her involvement in Cara’s accident and despite Krista and Sadie’s attempts to soothe her with the fact that it was just that, an accident, Holly can’t shake the belief that she is to blame and it's a feeling that’s heightened given her recent involvement in Heath’s death.
Believing herself responsible for Cara’s fall, Holly holds an anxious vigil as Cara recovers from emergency surgery.
Waiting until Dex and JJ have seen their mum after arriving back from camp, Holly finally confesses her perceived culpability to the family. But Cara is quick to reassure Holly that it was an accident, mostly caused by Cara’s own corner cutting.
Whilst Remi and JJ accept this version of events, Dex finds it hard to let the matter go so easily. Unconvinced of Holly’s innocence, he confronts her at the Kennedy house to say so, but his angry outburst causes Holly to spiral into panic, prompting Karl to advise her to pull the plug on her planned podcast appearance the next day.
But Holly is determined. She wants to talk about what happened as that’s the only way she can start to move past all her mistakes.
Despite the concern of family and friends, Holly ploughs ahead with her plan to give an interview to Blaze for the Crimesborough podcast. As the conversation progresses, Holly feels like she’s able to set appropriate boundaries as she discusses her ordeal in the outback.
Feeling great about how the whole thing went, Holly said exactly what she wanted to say and thought this would be a cathartic opportunity to get her side of the story on the record, however, when the podcast drops the following morning, Blaze has edited all her honest and vulnerable words into a new order, creating a villain edit which makes her out to be a calculated killer.
With Holly wanting to hide from the world, Karl and Susan encourage her to hold her head up high, but some residents of Erinsborough are instantly captured by this chilling new side of the outback story, and Holly finds herself pushed to the brink by their gossip.
