Will Darcy get away with what he's done?

24-30 MAY
Jane and family struggle to navigate Amanda’s shifting mental state, increasingly worried as they try to convince her to accept proper cognitive testing for dementia.
Meanwhile, Darcy dodges Karl’s accusations of having a hand in his opioid dependency issues and denies everything. But Terese makes it clear she’s got her eye on him.
When Darcy learns that a worried Jane plans to take control of Amanda’s affairs, including her finances, he feels the walls closing in and manipulating Amanda to turn on her own family, sets a sinister plan in motion.
As Jane and the family reel in the wake of Amanda’s angry outburst, and the cancellation of their trip to the Dandenongs, they discuss it further and realise that since Amanda’s mood swings can go both ways, there may still be time to turn the day around. And Jane grows hopeful as she sets out to look for her mother.
Meanwhile, Darcy arrives at the Dandenongs to meet Amanda, setting up his alibi with Tess Bell at the same time. There, Amanda lapses into a moment of confusion, thinking Darcy is Jane. She tells ‘Jane’ that she is sorry she treated her badly. Everything Jane wanted to hear from her mother when Amanda came to town.
Amanda soon realises her confusion and admits to Darcy that she is scared of what is happening to her leaving Darcy torn between sympathy and a need to cover his tracks.
Later, Darcy meets with Tess, solidifying his alibi and charming himself back into her good books.

Unable to find Amanda, Jane asks Susan for help, and she discovers Amanda was seen getting into an Uber. Worried over Amanda’s whereabouts, Jane calls the police who commences a search.
Susan calls Darcy, who is now busy catching up with Tess and as the Harrises wait anxiously, Andrew arrives with news. His sombre face tells Jane everything she needs to know. Amanda is dead.
Reeling from the devastating news that her mother was found dead at the bottom of an embankment in the Dandenongs, Jane blames herself and is inconsolable.
Meanwhile, Darcy tries to manage his guilt as he gently enquires as to what the police think happened to Amanda. He’s relieved to learn the police believe it was a terrible accident, but Karl’s pricked with suspicion.
After talking to Paul, Karl begins a mission to finally find proof of Darcy’s underhanded ways.
