Karl's reputation hits a new low in Neighbours

Is his secret about to be exposed?

Darcy is given a tour of Eirini by Karl and Susan and is as impressed as they said he would be. While he’s there he notices one of Karl’s parents, Vera, having serious stomach pains. Karl, knowing Vera’s history, is confident it’s just indigestion, but Darcy thinks otherwise and makes the call to take Vera to hospital.

It turns out his hunch was right, after it's discovered that Vera has a swollen appendix. Karl is shocked that he missed the diagnosis and Darcy delicately wonders if Karl’s medication is hampering his judgement. Taking offence, Karl says everything he’s doing now is by the book.

But when Susan later also questions his judgement, Karl can’t help but snap, leaving Susan concerned that something is going on with her husband.

After lashing out at Susan, Karl feels the burden of his painkiller secret is becoming too much. And whilst Susan suspects something has been wrong with Karl since they got home, Terese is concerned both for Karl and how this might impact the residents at Eirini.

When Darcy calls for a debrief about Vera, for a hot minute it appears he’s set to expose Karl’s secret. But instead, Darcy sets up a cover story for Karl, claiming he’s returned to work too soon.

Both Terese and Susan are placated, and Karl is relieved to have bought himself some more breathing room and it’s all thanks to Darcy.

Determined to thank Darcy for helping Karl, the Kennedys plan to introduce him to some potential investors for his health centre. But Karl is ruffled as his reputation starts taking a hit amongst Eirini residents, who are cancelling their appointments with him.

After finding out that Moira is besotted with Darcy, Karl begins feeling envious of Darcy’s rising popularity.

Hopeful about a pitch meeting to an investor for his Health Centre, Darcy is left dejected when it doesn’t pan out. Karl and Susan are supportive, but when Darcy attempts to install himself as Karl’s temporary job-share partner at Eirini Rising, Karl is left seriously put out.

Apologising, Darcy explains, but Karl now can't help questioning his motives, discarding the medications that Darcy prescribed, along with his painkillers.
