FOR WEEK COMMENCING 13TH MAY

As Mackenzie struggles to juggle work with caring for Haz, Holly and Byron remind her that they can all share the load, but Mackenzie is resolved to prioritise Haz, which leaves Holly concerned at how all-consuming the ordeal is for her friend.

When she sees that Lassiters is advertising for tenants to take over Harold’s, Mackenzie is stunned and Toadie reports that Lassiters is well within their rights to take this action. An emotional Mackenzie voices to Haz that she’ll find a way to save Harold’s, as a way of fixing her mistakes.

Entering on the tail end of their conversation, Holly assumes Mackenzie is referring to accidentally running Haz over and assures Mackenzie that she needn’t say sorry. Although Mackenzie runs with the assumption, there’s a sense that’s not what she was apologising for.

Determined to save Harold’s from Paul’s plan to re-lease the space and inspired by some business wisdom from Victor, Mackenzie re-opens the café, calling in favours from all the neighbours to help get it up and running.

Wendy’s hospitality soon has customers returning in droves, but despite her success, Mackenzie remains troubled. Worried for her friend, Holly pushes Mackenzie to open up about the guilt that’s eating at her.

Emotional, Mackenzie is finally ready to unburden herself and Holly counsels a guilt-ridden Mackenzie that the only way to feel better is to confess her secret to Haz. Taking her friend’s advice, Mackenzie tells a comatose Haz that she’s been hiding something. However, now that she’s nearly lost him, she can’t imagine life without him.

Although Mackenzie wills him to wake, Haz remains motionless and later, with a renewed sense of purpose, Mackenzie demands Paul reconsider plans to find a new Harold’s leaseholder.

As Mackenzie passionately rallies that they can keep business up, Paul finally caves and Harold’s is saved. Heartened, Mackenzie updates Haz and clears his room, but doesn’t notice his hand twitching. Is he finally waking up?
