The six-part series will offer a fresh and light-hearted take on the challenges from BBC One's Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof.
Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof sees eight celebrities embark on a once-in-a-lifetime epic adventure, under the training of extreme athlete Wim Hof, aka ‘The Iceman.’ The six-part series follows the group as they undertake a series of challenges that will test them to their limits, both physically and mentally.
The celebrities taking part are musical theatre legend Alfie Boe, singer/songwriter, TV presenter and footballer, Chelcee Grimes, Strictly professional dancer Dianne Buswell, sports TV presenter and former international rhythmic gymnast Gabby Logan MBE, Welsh weatherman Owain Wyn Evans, former professional footballer Patrice Evra, rapper and mental health advocate Professor Green and actress Tamzin Outhwaite.
The group will be living together in a tented village in sub-zero temperatures, surrounded by spectacular, icy scenes of Northern Italy. Each week will see them take on challenges, which gradually become more daring as the series progresses.
In each episode of Munya and Filly Get Chilly, presenters and viral comedy stars, Munya and Filly will immerse themselves in the sub-zero temperatures and take on Wim’s challenges, from breathing exercises to ice baths and beyond. They’ll have the chance to collaborate musically with Wim (who loves a singsong) and they have lots of pranks for each other and the celebs in store.
The BBC Three sister show will be filmed within the tented village that the celebrities are inhabiting, alongside the filming of the BBC One series, with behind-the-scenes content and exclusive access to the celebrities and hosts. Each episode will also see friends, Munya and Filly go head-to-head as they take on one of the adrenaline stunts or cold challenges set by Wim.
Speaking about the new series, Munya Chawawa said "When the BBC cold me about this show, ice said: 'there's snow way I'm doing that!'. However, I'm gonna go out on a Wim and say it's one of the best things I've ever done; good luck taking your eyes Hof the screen!"
To which Yung Filly added "I had a great opportunity to not only create some of the great content I have done to date but to also create memories I will cherish for the rest of life. Really can’t wait for you to watch this show.”
BBC Three's Controller Fiona Campbell, said "Munya and Filly Get Chilly on BBC Three is a brilliantly titled and brilliantly entertaining companion to the main show. Both are top comedy talents that we’re really happy to work with and this series is going to be a great way for audiences to dive deeper into Freeze the Fear with Wim Hof."
Kate Phillips, Director of Entertainment Commissioning at the BBC says: “BBC Three is set to become BBC Freezing as Munya and Yung Filly put their own spin on our brand new BBC One series. Their light hearted take on all things Wim will certainly give viewers plenty of laughs and a flurry of shivery surprises.”
Munya and Filly Get Chilly (6x30’) is a Hungry Bear Media production for BBC Three, commissioned by Kate Phillips, Director of Entertainment and Fiona Campbell, Controller BBC Three. The Executive Producer is Dan Baldwin and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Kalpna Patel-Knight.
