Can they find closure before it's too late?

 6-12 SEPTEMBER

With a lot on her mind, Nell panics when the jumble sale is off to a slow start. But when a creative Wendy has the group dress up in items from the sale, they soon draw a roaring crowd.

Concerned, Toadie checks in with Nell, who admits she’s had things other than her breakup with JJ bothering her lately. After a successful day, Nell gathers Karl, Susan and Terese to tell them she’s ready to give Colac another chance. She’s going home with her dad.

With Nell’s plans to leave Erinsborough in full swing, Terese organises a farewell afternoon tea. But Nell is stressed because she hasn’t had a chance to tell JJ she’s leaving and wants to invite him to the gathering. But every time she tries to speak to him, he blows her off and she hates the ides of leaving things like this.

Later, Max and Wendy’s plans for the day are revealed when they arrive at school with a bunch of old parts from the garage, ready to help Wendy and the kids with a found object sculpture project. It seems like a fun day is in store, but Jane accidentally spills the beans about Nell’s leaving in front of JJ, who spends the rest of the class taking out his hurt and frustration on the sculpture.

Max tries to offer some sage advice, but it only aggravates JJ further. Max still has a girlfriend, so his advice is useless to JJ.

When Nell finally catches JJ long enough to invite him to the barbecue, he unleashes all his hurt on her. So much so that Nell decides to call the event off.

As Nell’s last day in Erinsborough arrives, she’s excited to start a new chapter in Colac, but is also sad that she hasn’t been able to mend things with JJ before she leaves. Adamant that she still doesn’t want any kind of farewell party, because of the hurt it will cause him, Nell focuses instead on making sure the Foundation will be in good hands without her, by arranging for Wendy to be custodian.

Meanwhile, Dex gives JJ a reality check. He and Nell had something incredibly special and they both still care about each other. Does he really want to leave things on such a horrible note forever?

Finally galvanised, JJ throws Nell a last minute party, apologising for his recent behaviour. And when he gives a heartfelt speech, Nell is relieved and touched as they agree they will always remain friends and Nell leaves both JJ and Erinsborough on a high.

Meanwhile, despite her and Terese notionally calling a truce, Elle is still clearly holding a grudge and Leo picks up on the ill will. Elle admits to her brother she still hasn’t come around to the idea of Paul and Terese as a couple and believes it’s a mistake to trust her.

Privately, Elle is hoping that Paul’s plan to spend extra time in New York might causes cracks in the relationship, but when she floats this with Paul he assures her they are more solid than ever. Leo gives Terese a subtle warning to be careful around Elle which ultimately leads to another confrontation between the women and Elle decides to move out of Number 22.

However, after Terese says goodbye to Nell, she’s reminded of the need to make the most of family while you have them close, and puts aside her own feelings and asks Elle to stay on to be close to Paul. But no sooner has this been decided than Paul is summoned to NYC for the birth of Andrew’s baby and Terese and Elle are left to share the house, alone.

Neighbours continues Mondays to Thursdays on Prime Video
