When he spots Nell practicing her karate moves, JJ offers to step in, hoping to repair their friendship.
In the course of their conversation, Nell reveals her mum used to own a nursery, but shuts down when JJ queries why she hasn’t been there in a long time.
After persuading Nell to accompany him to the nursery, JJ helps Nell when she has an emotional wobble. As they enter, Nell’s shaken to find the place run down and abandoned.
Taking in the wasteland that her mother’s former nursery has become, Nell is overcome with anger and upset. Returning home, Nell reveals what she’s found to Toadie and both she and Terese are shocked to discover Toadie has known for an while that the nursery is in disrepair.
Following her nursery shock, Nell finds comfort in JJ’s kind friendship. Spotting them talking closely, Dex is stung, but accepts JJ’s explanation that Nell needed a friend, his mind also preoccupied with a more pressing problem.
