Paul discovers he's the father of Chelsea's baby in Neighbours

What will this life-changing news mean for him and Terese?

 15-21 MARCH

After Cara and Remi enjoy Nell’s exhibition, Remi leaves for work, but not before making a mysterious phone call, pretending to be Chelsea Murphy.

Later, Cara rushes home to discover that Remi has found Chelsea. And Paul and Terese also pull up in Ramsay Street, just in time to see Chelsea emerge from Remi’s car with a newborn baby in her arms. Is this Paul’s son?

As Paul and Terese grapple with the return of Chelsea and her newborn baby, a stunned Paul can’t stop staring at the baby as Remi explains how she tracked Chelsea down.

Paul wants to know if he’s the father, but Chelsea admits she doesn’t know if Thomas is Paul’s or Jeffrey’s. Trying to stay calm, Paul demands a paternity test, which Chelsea agrees to.

Meanwhile, Terese becomes concerned when she sees how attached Paul is to Thomas already, fearful that if he is the father, it means Chelsea will be back in their lives. And even though Paul assures her that Chelsea won’t come between them, Terese still harbours grave misgivings.

After the group have left, Remi and Cara debrief over the situation and offer Chelsea a room in their home which she gratefully accepts, swearing she’s not the person she was before, although Remi’s jury is still out.

Remi puts a lid on Dex and JJ when they complain about sharing a room together now Chelsea has moved in with the baby telling them they need to be team players.

Looking after baby Thomas, Chelsea attempts to call the police and get on the front foot of her return to Erinsborough but Andrew doesn’t pick up. As she looks after the baby, Cara is emotional and Remi is worried Thomas might be a painful reminder of her wife's infertility.

Later, Jeffrey arrives to take the DNA test, not quite prepared to engage with the child yet, but tells Chelsea he’ll support her if he is the father. When he calls her out on wanting Paul to be the father, Chelsea claims she has no feelings either way.

Meanwhile, Terese reminds Paul they’re in the Chelsea drama together. Conscious of the uncertainty Terese is facing, Nell comforts her, reminding her of when Hugo came to live with her family and Sonya was in a similar situation.

As Paul helps Nell and Terese settle into the Penthouse, the DNA test for Paul to take arrives and all parties meet to take their DNA samples in front of each other for full transparency, a surprising idea from Chelsea.

However, Terese and Chelsea both notice how Paul can’t help himself as he becomes emotionally invested in the child. Encouraged by Terese, Paul admits he’s hoping Thomas is his, as it would feel like a second chance acer losing David.

During an aside with Paul, Cara apologises for not telling him about the baby sooner, and although Paul accepts the apology, it’s clear she’s lost a degree of trust with him.

Soon, Remi gets a call confirming Paul is the father!

As JJ and Nell contemplate the huge upheaval going on in both their lives, Paul and Terese tell them the news that Paul is Thomas’s father. Whilst Cara and Remi commit to supporting Chelsea, making her very happy with how things are turning out.

Keen to start talking about how he and Chelsea will manage the situation, Paul enters the chaos of the Varga-Murphy house and picks up a crying Thomas, who instantly stops wailing.

As the Varga-Murphys and Paul start planning how they will work together to support mother and child, Chelsea is genuine in wanting what’s best for everyone, including Terese.

Later, Terese is thrown to find Chelsea and the baby with Paul in the Penthouse. But he assures Terese that she remains his priority as she fights unease over this new frontier.
