But will Cara’s principles put her in danger?
6-12 SEPTEMBER
After getting the cold shoulder from Nicolette, Cara asks Jane about the interaction, who fumbles enough to raise her suspicions.
Clear that her methods aren’t working, Jane warns Nicolette against her avoidance strategy as Cara storms in wanting answers. Why is Nicolette toying with Maddy’s feelings? In the heat of the moment, Nicolette confesses that she’s not interested in Maddie, and instead it’s Cara she has feelings for.
With Remi still in the dark about the Linwells, Cara gets the go-ahead from her boss to investigate her hunch with Andrew’s backup. Valuing their friendship, Cara and Nicolette clear the air, leaving Remi to watch the pair hug.
Feeling reflective, Remi tells Cara that with her memory and feelings in limbo, she should start to date other people again if she wants to and should be with Nicolette if that's what she wants.
After some digging, Cara realises one of the warehouses where the theft was reported was leased to the Linwells years ago. She chases Andrew, wanting him to come check the property out with her, but he thinks it’s no big deal.
With Nicolette’s support to trust her gut, and her own belief that this is a no-risk bit of investigating, Cara heads off to visit the warehouse. But she hadn’t anticipated a cache of weapons hidden at the warehouse, and before she can call it in to the station, the door locks and slams shut. Cara is trapped, in very real danger.
Forced to hide out in the warehouse, Cara quickly realises the person who has walked in on her is Ricky Dehnam who beelines for the box of guns and an anxious Cara texts Andrew to come and provide backup.
As she waits, holding her breath, Cara records a phone call made by Ricky where he discusses ‘a man on the inside’ and dealing with ‘government’. When Andrew arrives, he warns Cara not to jump the gun and arrest Ricky yet, they don’t have a warrant to search the warehouse and they need to do this by the book.
They take their discoveries to the Senior Sergeant who is not impressed with how they’ve handled this so far, but can’t help acknowledging that Cara’s instincts about this situation were correct. They will get a warrant and do this properly, because it looks like they’ve stumbled on something very big. And Cara is determined to get to the bottom of this.
