With his love writ large, how will Paul respond?
28 SEPTEMBER - 4 OCTOBER
With the adrenaline of the siege over, Terese is left unmoored and checks in on Paul, getting drawn into the comfort of one of their old routines together. However, before she can get too comfortable, she forces herself to leave, fleeing to Susan.
However, Susan and Karl are so focused on Holly they can’t see that Terese is desperate for company. Returning home, unable to bear its silent emptiness, Terese turns to Jane and finds that door closed to her as well.
Disheartened, she forces herself to go back to Number 22, bumping into Paul on the way. The only one who can see she’s struggling, he offers her companionship.
Tempted, Terese turns him down, feigning enthusiasm at the idea of having her house all to herself. As she embarks on a night of self-care, Terese is confronted with a reminder of the life Toadie’s taken from her and falls to pieces.
Disheveled, Terese finds the remains of the broken picture frames from the night before and is hit with another wave of grief.
When Jane drops by, Terese masks her feelings and hides the box away to avoid uncomfortable questions.
Later, Terese spots Paul, but catches herself before she calls out, resisting her old impulse to turn to him in her time of need.
Noticing Terese’s distress, Remi offers compassionate counsel which leads to her confessing that she wants to go to Paul, but her gut is telling her not to.
However, when Paul shows up on her doorstep with lunch later that day, Terese gives in to her impulses and invites him in. Both troubled by recent events, they chat, wary not to overstep with each other.
When Paul gets up to make a tea, he finds Terese has fallen asleep on the couch and covers her with a blanket. With his love writ large, Paul does the right thing and leaves.
