Can she hide her alcoholism from those closest to her?
12-18 OCTOBER
Terese reluctantly assures a troubled Susan that even though she feels the pull of Paul’s affection, she isn’t going to go there.
However when she runs into him after a particularly heart-rending phone call with homesick Nell, he offers her a hug and she almost breaks her resulting.
As the emotional turmoil takes its toll on her, the temptation to turn to drink as a coping mechanism is very strong and a bottle of wine left as a gift at Eirini Rising has her sorely tempted. But she holds strong until she discovers that Susan has accidentally let slip to Paul that Terese may not be entirely indifferent to him.
Anxious where this could lead, she takes the bottle of wine home and it all gets too much. She needs a drink to get through this which means Terese is sadly off the wagon.
Ashamed after her night of drinking, Terese privately resolves to get her house in order. When she declares to Susan and Jane that she plans to re-landscape her front garden, they are supportive, not realising the seriousness of what’s driving her.
Meanwhile, Paul probes Leo about Terese’s renewed feelings for him, while also reassuring his son that he will take Susan’s advice and keep his distance.
When Susan checks in on Terese about her feelings for Paul, she assures her all is well. But when she finds Gino dealing with a delivery of wine and a small potted cactus, Terese offers to take care of the former while Gino delivers the latter, a gift for Terese from Paul, with a moving note attached.
With temptation at her feet, Terese struggles to maintain her resolve and Karl and Susan later come across an irate Moira railing that a bottle of her wine hasbbeen stolen, demanding an invesRgaRon.
We learn that Terese has succumbed to temptation and taken the wine. Although interrupted by Krista before she can drink it, it’s clear Terese is a woman sitting at the top of a steep decline.
Unable to stay away from the alcohol, Terese starts to suffer the effects of withdrawal any time she stops drinking. Despite her best efforts, others start to notice her feeling unwell and Terese decides to take the day off to hide in her house.
Just when she thinks she’s gotten away with it she’s shocked to find Nell has used her key to let herself in and caught her in the act of drinking. Will Nell keep her secret or reveal Terese’s drinking to everyone?
