The news was confirmed after the series three finale aired on ITV.
The hit ITV drama, set and filmed in Morecambe, written by Daragh Carville will return for a fourth series with Marsha Thomason returning as Morecambe CID’s new Family Liaison Officer, DS Jenn Townsend.
Confirmed cast also returning include Daniel Ryan, Erin Shanagher, Thomas Law and Andrew Dowbiggin and filming will begin later this year with further casting news to be announced.
Speaking about the recommission, ITV's Head of Drama, Polly Hill said "I’m delighted that we will be returning to Morecambe for another series of The Bay. Marsha Thomason delivered a brilliant performance as DS Jenn Townsend, and it will be exciting to see where Daragh takes her character in series 4. The Bay’s latest series has been praised for its diversity both on and off-screen including its accurate and moving portrayal of the funeral of a young Muslim man. The series has also been praised for Nadeem Islam's performance, who was cast as Jamal in the show after being discovered via an article written about him by Colin Hambrook (Editor) on Disability Arts Online.
