The Rest is Football returning to Netflix

In an extended two-year deal, which takes it through to UEFA Euro 2028.

Netflix has announced that following a successful 40-day run during the World Cup, The Rest is Football will return beyond the World Cup and through the Premier League season.

The extended two-year deal will take the partnership through to UEFA Euro 2028, which will be staged across the UK and Ireland. Netflix will carry new episodes every Monday and Friday from August, with Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards appearing across the 40-week Premier League and Champions League season.

Hosted by Gary Lineker, alongside Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, The Rest is Football has over seven million monthly streams as a podcast, and the trio will return to Netflix throughout the full 40 weeks of the Premier League and Champions League season for 2026/27 and 2027/28.

The Rest Is Football moved onto Netflix during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when the trio recorded a 40-day run of daily episodes from New York, with Netflix revealing that the series appeared in its UK Daily Top 10 TV chart every day during the tournament, peaking at No. 1.

Speaking about the show's move onto Netflix, Gary Lineker said "We had a brilliant time making the show during the World Cup, and the response was incredible, so it’s great to be back on Netflix every week throughout the Premier League season. The Rest Is Football podcast will continue across the week too, while the Netflix show gives us another chance to get stuck into the biggest stories. Expect plenty of opinions, plenty of laughs and, with Alan and Micah involved, probably a few arguments as well."
