Wendy is thrilled to receive a call from a school in Ferntree Gully to cover a sick teacher’s

afternoon classes. It’s the foot in the door she’s been waiting for and she later returns effusive about her day.

The students, staff and the experience were perfect. But in a private moment, Wendy drops her guard. She may have been putting an overly rosy spin on things.

Feeling depleted and disheartened by her relief teaching stings, Wendy wishes she could get a full time position that she could make her own.
