Keen to look his best for the Eirini Rising photoshoot, Karl throws himself into preparations. Despite Terese advising him not to go to any trouble, Karl squeezes himself into some tight-fitting shapewear to keep himself looking trim and fit.
However, the undergarment causesuch constriction that Karl struggles to wipe the look of pain and discomfort from his face during the shoot. When Karl admits the true reason behind his odd demeanor, Terese urges him to remove them and Karl finally breathes a massive sigh of relief.
With Susan in no hurry to return to Erinsborough, Karl covers his disappointment and Holly and Melanie attempt to cheer him up by asking him to play his guitar. But Karl soon realises they are only humouring him and insists he's not an object of pity.
The next morning, Karl admits to Melanie that he's starting to feel that Susan doesn't want to come home. When Melanie reflects that Susan enjoys being needed, Karl begins to worry he's not enough for his wife.
Later, when Terese organises a gathering to unveil the Eirini Rising billboard, introducing the world to Doctor Karl, Karl gets a much-needed morale boost.
As part of Karl’s health regimen, Melanie and Karl head out for another bike-ride and partway through, Karl slows to a stop and convinces Melanie to ride on.
Unsure of the route, Melanie backtracks and is puzzled to find Karl emerging from a residential driveway looking caught out. Although Karl claims he was washing chain grease off his hands, Melanie is left unconvinced.
Later, when Wendy shares the gossip of a neighbourhood pooper on the loose, Melanie sees a map of the offender’s leavings and notes the uncanny congruity with her and Karl’s cycling route.
With creeping dread, Melanie privately recalls the incident of Karl being caught short, before quickly deciding that he couldn’t possibly be the poo-cycler. Could he?
